Summer Reading is here and it’s time to
“Go Green at Your Library!”
This year’s program features:
*Online tracking of time spent reading!
*Weekly reading incentives (including free books!)
*Family Night Celebrations!
*Storytimes!
*Special Programming and more...
Our reading program is fun and it helps children
retain their reading skills!
Register and then keep track of
the amount of time spent reading. It’s that easy!

Monday, June 28 Robert Rivest, “Go Green...Make a Scene!” 6:30 p.m.
Robert Rivest kicks off our Summer Reading Program, Go Green at
Your Library with mime and comic stories about how awesome it is to
live on planet Earth! Includes fun audience participation pieces that
celebrate nature and the environment, plus easy ways to Reduce, Reuse,
and Recycle. Laugh, make a scene and learn ways to live Green!
Monday, July 12 Ed the Wizard, “Reading is Magic” 6:30 p.m.
Using many volunteers, Ed the Wizard weaves reading and magic
together using a bit of comedy and suspense. The result? Full-fledged
laughter! (Ed also reminds children to read, read, read, because it’s the
key to success!) Sponsored by a grant from the Seekonk Cultural
Council, a local agency and supported by the Massachusetts Cultural
Council, a state agency.
Monday, July 26 Sparky’s Puppets, “Stories in Trees” 6:30 p.m.
What’s greener than a tree? Sparky Davis says oak, apple, and pine!
There’s a tree in every tale with a lively medley of stories celebrating
the world of forest and field.
Monday, August 16 John Porcino, “One Earth” 6:30 p.m.
Acclaimed Storyteller and Musician is coming to Seekonk with stories,
songs & music that celebrate the natural world & encourage care for the
environment. A wonderful conclusion to our Summer Reading Program!

Storytime is fun but did you know that it also prepares your child to read and helps in developing important early literacy skills*? It's true! By using fun, interactive, age-appropriate activities, Seekonk Library's storytimes will not only help your children discover a world of books, they will also get children off to a great start in becoming life-long readers.

Books, finger plays, simple rhymes and songs create a
program that focuses on language-building play for children birth to 2 1/2.

RAINY DAY RECESS!!!
Sprinkling? Downpour? Torrential rain?
Whatever the wet weather, children and families are invited to stop by the Library any rainy day this summer and take a break with a drop-in craft. So cross your fingers for rain (!) and we’ll see you here for a great project! All ages. Registration not required.

The Tumblebooks collection offers books and games that support all levels of literacy. From children who are just learning to read to more advanced readers, there’s something for everyone! (And remember, time spent using Tumblebooks can be added to your weekly Summer Reading totals!) See the collection at seekonkpl.org and look for the TumbleBooks icon on the Children’s page!
ACCELERATED READING LIST REMINDER...
Looking for the next A.R. book to read? Remember that Aitken and Martin School’s Accelerated Reader Lists are always available on-line at Seekonkpl.org (see link on homepage). Using the Library’s on-line catalog, titles can be reserved and then picked up at the Library.
If patrons have a special physical or communication need that may affect their participation in Seekonk Library services or activities, they should contact the Library staff to discuss accomodations. Seekonk Library cannot ensure the availability or appropriate accomodations without prior notification of need.
