Seekonk Public Library News 3.6 Tuesday, June 1, 2004 A monthly newsletter about the Seekonk Public Library http://www.seekonkpl.org news@seekonkpl.org _________________________________________________________________ Greetings from the Director, Sharon St. Hilaire: By now you know that the library budget was cut 8.3% for FY2005. In a recent report done by Northeastern University about public libraries at risk, Mr. McInerney was quoted as saying, "He has received no letters or calls from town residents protesting pending cuts." Let us all change this for FY2006. We need to begin now! Here is the information you need to contact Mr. McInerney. Let him know that we want to restore library funding. Please join me in asking him to give us back our 2 cents worth of the tax dollar. The title can't be released because of performance right issues but here are some clues. Alec Baldwin was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in 2003 for this movie. It had 2 Golden Globe Nominations. It has something to do with gambling. The title is the same as the word meaning something you put cold drinks in at the beach. ================================================================ Friends of the Seekonk Library 2004 GOLF TOURNAMENT August 9 Ledgemont Country Club Registration form available at the Customer Services Desk! My title is Customer Service Inventory Associate. It is my job to accurately check items in and out of the Library. Customer service basically involves making people feel welcomed, solving problems, and directing them to other departments within the Library. I work at the Circulation Desk where I meet people of all ages. From a young ten year old who introduced me to new rock bands, to an older gentleman that described his experience on air craft carrier, there is never a dull moment at our library. Everyday I learn something new from our patrons, I feel that I have the coolest job at the library and I love it! My formal education consists of two Associates Degrees, one in Retail Management and the other in paralegal studies. I live in Rehoboth with my husband, our two daughters, a dog named Molly and 2 cats, Smokey and Tiger. I love quilting, gardening, hand embroidery and of course reading. My favorites are Historical fiction and mysteries. =================================================================== New DVD's at the library Assassination Tango 21 Grams Beyond Borders Big Fish Calendar Girls Chasing Liberty Cheaper by the Dozen Duplex Empires:Medici, Godfathers of the Renaissance Girl with the Pearl Earring Good Boy Hope Ranch House of Sand and Fog Keeping Fit in your 50"s Kill Bill: Volume One Langrishe, Go Down Last Samurai Master and Commander Secret Lives of Dentists Shattered Glass Timeline Vinyasa Flow for Beginners REMEMBER, you can place holds on line at www.Seekonkpl.org Go to iBistro and put in your barcode.
