If you are looking for a form that we don’t have in stock just ask an Adult Services librarian and we will be happy to find it for you online. If you have Internet access and want to help yourself go the the IRS website for the federal forms. Massachusetts state tax forms can be found online also, as well as the Rhode Island state tax forms. We have the J.K. Lasser book Your Income Tax 2007 at the Adult Services desk to help answer federal tax questions you may have. ************************************************** The Seekonk Library Trust's annual New Century Fund Campaign has begun. The Trust exists as a vehicle to accept gifts and bequests. Consider adding something in your will for the Seekonk Library Trust. February 6 – Introduction to Computers 6 – 7:30pm February 7 – Word I 1:30 – 3pm February 14 – Excel I 1:30 – 3pm February 15 – Word II 6 – 7:30pm February 21 – Excel II 1:30 – 3pm February 24 – Introduction to E-Mail 10:30 – 12pm February 28 – Word III 1:30 - 3pm Lose Weight Feel Great Saturday, February 10 10:30 - 12 Dorothy DeLessio, a registered dietician at Memorial Hospital of RI, will speak about weight issues many Americans are faced with. Learn how to control your weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Information will be given about popular diets, medications, supplements, surgery, and finding help. The program is free and open to all. Call the Adult Services dept. to register at 508-336-8230 ext.130 This program is sponsored by Memorial Hospital of RI. It is part of the Seekonk Public Library's Health Access grant to bring health information to the community. The grant is provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services which is the primary source of federal support for the nation's libraries and museums, and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. Landscaping Your Home: Common Mistakes and How to Avoid Them Saturday, February 17 10:30 - 12 Seekonk landscape designer Andrew Grossman will offer ideas for landscaping your yard. He will point out common mistakes made such as issues of proportion, plant selection, bed layout and more. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Seekonk Public Library. Life in World War II Eastern Europe Wednesday, February 28 6:30 - 7:30pm Local businessman Charles Rehbein will share his life experiences living in Eastern Europe during World War II and the years following. He and his family endured many hardships including his confinement in a Russian labor camp after the war. His powerful memoirs are collected in a new book Ugartsthal, September 1, 1939 in which he recounts the atrocities he witnessed during this time period. Yoga for Beginners Thursdays, March 1 - April 5 10 - 11am A five-week Yoga for Beginners class will take place at the Seekonk Public Library starting Thursday, March 1 and running through April 5, from 10 – 11am. This beginner’s only class is ideal for non-exercisers, seniors, and anyone who would like an introduction to the healing, relaxing, yet energizing practice of Yoga. The class will include breathing, meditation, posture and balance, stretching, and more. Each participant will have the choice of doing this class in a chair or on a floor mat. Liz O’Brien, an instructor from Fitness Mom Studio in Rehoboth, will conduct the class. Space is limited and registration is required. This class is open to SAILS library card holders only. FAMILY NIGHTS 6:30 pm Tuesday, February 20 6:30 pm Under One Sky: Stories & Songs for the Whole Family Join critically acclaimed musicians/storytellers Davis Bates and Roger Tincknell for stories and songs to celebrate the season. This participatory concert will include ballads, regional nonsense songs, "just so stories"' family stories and more. Be prepared to sing, move and dance! Sponsored by the Seekonk Cultural Council. More Youth Programs Dance Dance Revolution - Teens Wednesdays in February Practice starts at 2pm. Tournament play at 2:30pm Dance Dance Revolution is back at Seekonk Library! Practice will start at 2pm and tournament play will be held from 2:30 - 3:30. Refreshments (especially water!) will be served. Unfamiliar with Dance Dance Revolution? DDR is an interactive video game that allows players to use their whole body rather than just their hands to play. Using upbeat music and colorful dance pads, players step on arrows while trying to keep time with the music. The object of the game is to keep up with the speed and intensity of the techno-beat. The Wednesday afternoon program is geared for teens but everyone is invited. Remember….Wednesdays in February from 2 - 3:30! Scrabble Club - Grages 3 and up Fridays 3:45 February 2, 9 and March 2, 9 Whether you're playing the game for the first time or trying to imporve your skills, join us at our newly formed Scrabble club for some rousing rounds of this very popular board game.
